Though only having been part of a first aid squad for a year, the experience has impacted me profoundly. I began as a Cadet for Matawan First Aid and Rescue Squad, and within 6 months I became certified as a Probationary EMT for Bayshore Emergency Medical Services. The certification course combined a rigorous pace with an extensive curriculum, in addition to practical skill training and hospital time.

 

Responding to calls with my crews has provided me with first-hand experience of emergency situations and prepared me to face them in everyday life. I plan to continue my education as an EMT and always be a member of a squad, wherever I am living.
